I  wrote on the Gyles Parkin thread about Tipsters not all being the spawn of the devil a lot are quite good if they do their homework.
Today 2 tipsters give The Lemonpie as tips, this is what Brendan Powell says on his own website, i'd believe BP over some tipster
Worcester17.00The Lemonpie The Lemonpie has won four of his last five and won a competitive handicap at Newton Abbot last time. Any ground will suit, but may struggle to beat Prompter.

Hi Mick i can only speak for myself, but to me a good tipster is one that gives a little bit of insight into how he/she came by their selections.
Relayman is not for me because although he relays services both good & bad it is just a long list of horses, whereas yourself tells how you came by your selection but leaving your ratings still a secret(infuriatinglyAngry) I dont actually pay for any services but do have access to quite a few good ones & someone going through a few races & saying no selection in my eyes is better than someone saying my contacts tell me. For all we know the contact could be the trainers wifes hairdressers milkmans sons PE teacher. With a little insight i can make up my mind & pick up things i may have missed.
For example a big tipster is giving out a 2yo at AYR wont be beaten the ground is bottomless sthe horse will probably never have run on it before so how can someone give out a tip that wont be beaten with no reasoning into why not or anything about other horses, whereas your Cesarawitch horse you've given reasoning & also a little evidence that it may be a backdoor plot along with the stats it gives me something to work with
sorry if this answer is a bit too long
Pat

Mick you asked elsewhere why people dont post more often, I can give you a very good reason whilst answering your threads i have just missed a horse which i would have had an interest in, if i hadnt answered your questions straight away i probably wouldnt have got round to answering them but i would have had a 13/8 losing bet THANKS MATEWink

Ahh so my waffle served a good purpose LOL Re your above post cheers interesting. When i post a bit of justification on my one of my picks its a very condensed form.Any horse i back i will have profiled deeply and likewise the opposition.Regretfully this never makes them run faster. Most unjust imo.

I think you make a very good point IE If a tipster tells you a horse will win ask him why.I mentioned recently that when i was involved in ownership often a trainer would say mine should win but when i asked whats your opinon of the others in the race i would get the 1000 yrd stare.
You can kid yourself you may even be able to kid others but you will never kid your Bank statement.
